Japanese Wango-yaki Pottery Tea Cup Set of Five
Wango-yaki is a type of fired ceramic product that uses petalite as raw material and has excellent heat resistance. It has the characteristics of both pottery and porcelain and is classified as semi-porcelain. Wango-yaki is a local representative industry in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, and was recognized as a traditional craft on January 12, 1979 (Showa 54).
These tea cups are handmade, and the shape is dignified and natural. The texture on the cups looks like the traces of wind and sand. The rich earthy color is natural and rugged, and has a strong tea ceremony aesthetic. It uses different glaze styles such as Gohonte, Brushwood, and Traditional Glaze to express the superb skills of the craftsman. There are visible coarse pottery particles on the cups, and each cup has a different texture and color, some are smooth and warm, and some are rough and retro.
These tea cups are beautiful, durable, and suitable for daily use. The set is elegantly packed in a wooden box, making it an ideal gift for enthusiasts and any special occasion.
